<---- CROWPAW
Tom, 12 Moons
RANK: Medicine Cat Apprentice
ALLIANCE: Hillclan
APPEARANCE: Lithe black tom with yellow eyes
PERSONALITY:
Introvert Crowpaw isn't a very friendly cat. It's not that he doesn't want to talk to others..he just really doesn't like to. He's a shy cat, preferring to keep more to himself than with others. He doesn't mind having company occasionally, but it's really only with one or two cats, and he knows them both very well. Outside of this little social group, which consists of his mentor and mother, he seems really..awkward. Out of place. He tends to look around a lot more, knowing more about herbs than he does social interaction, so he really doesn't know what to do. It tends to make others feel either sorry for him, or amused. It is kind of funny to watch him flounder about in a conversation. It is the one time that this sleek-looking tom doesn't seem very...sleek.
Mature This tom acts like a cat two or three times his young age. He doesn't really play games, or crack too many jokes. He does, but again..only with the two cats he's actually close too..and he doesn't see his mother all that much..so, really only one cat gets to experience Crowpaw's occasional joke or good-natured smile. He stands taller than some, and has the appearance of looking older than he is, so why shouldn't his personality follow suit? In his profession, you can't act silly. It's an important job, he knws this..and he's going to keep this that way.
Kind Despite being socially awkward and "old for his age", Crowpaw can be a rather sweet cat. He works well with kits, and knows how to weave his way around a cranky elder. He fits in right in with sickly cats, at ease with them when he's so lacking around their healthy counterparts. It's strange, but he can't really help it. It's always sort of been that way, and it's unlikely to change..no matter how much he is pushed to get out more.
Intelligent Obviously loyal to his chosen line of work, albeit with a few slip-ups, Crowpaw is a smart cat. He has a good memory, and steady paws. He's a smart cat, he knows the rules..but sometimes they don't always make sense to him. He doesn't question too mucj, but as a cat with lots of time for thinking..he can't help but wonder sometimes. Why can't he do this, but why can he do that?
Confident This is a trait that really only shows up when he's working. He knows what he's doing pretty well by this point, and whenever his mentor seems to doubt herself and think things over five or six times, he's right there to tell her she's right. This is what we do here..no, you weren't wrong. I'll get the cobwebs, you do this or that. It isn't that he jumps into things, for he is in now way reckless, but he's sure in himself and in his mentor, and knows that if you doubt youself..mistakes can happen.
But even if you're careful...they still seem to happen when you least expect them.
REASON FOR NAME: Crow for his sleek black pelt, paw for being an apprentice.

HISTORY:
crowkit
Blacktail and Duskfoot really were your, average, everyday couple. Two cats, none too far apart in age. She was instantly attracted to the long, dark black tom and his restless energy, and he thought the dark gray she-cat was mellow enough to start a family with. Soon enough, Duskfoot was moving into the nursery, though she barely looked like she was carrying anything. Blacktail tried to stick around the best he could, but he'd always been a curious tom. He wanted to see the world, and even with a growing family on the way, clan life bored him. why had he even stayed as long as he had? So on the eve of his son's birth, he took off into the night.
Duskfoot would've been distraught, had she not been expecting this even the entire time she'd been with him.
Crowkit was born in the early hours of dawn, an exact copy of his father in looks, a dark sillouhette when seen from the mouth of the den. Growing up, his mother held him close..hoping and praying that he didn't inherit Blacktail's restless energy. Thankfully, Crowkit seemed to be nothing like his father in personality, and ws perfectly content to hear stories about the tom that had left them both behind. Because Duskfoot was still in love with her missing wanderer, and wanted his only kit to think of him as a hero and not a villain. He stayed near her for most of his kithood, until the teasing of other kits in the nursery drove him to find somewhere to hide. He was fatherless, part of a family incomplete, and they found it funny.
The gangly black kit raced across camp, slipping by accident into the medicine cat's den.It had been unoccupied at that time, but they hadn't followed him, and he sat there..pawing at herb piles and watching sleeping patients with curiosity until he was interrupted by the main occupant of that den. Startled, he turned around, but found he wasn't really in trouble. Was he sick? Well, no...just looking for somewhere safe. Was he allowed to stay for a while?
Of course..and he kept on coming back, especially when it was brought up that maybe he could stay for more than the daylight hours. Would he want to be an apprentice here? He was already learning so much, so fast. The answer was a resounding yes, and he fell asleep in the nursery, for his remaining time there, comforted by a set-in-stone future. Not even the teasing and jokes from the other kits could bring him down.

At six moons, after his ceremony, he moved in with his mentor. The other apprentices couldn't bother him here, and if they ever came in..they probably wouldn't be in the mood to pick on him anyway. It just seemed perfect. busy as he was, he still occasionally saw his mother, and lit up whenever she popped into the den to say hello, or to get a thorn removed from a pad. He grew closer to Brightflower, working beside her even from a young age. He'd gotten a bit of a head start, after spending so much time in her den as a kit. She had to think things over, but he'd be right there with whatever she needed, offering whatever advice and confidence he could share. Which was actually a good bit for such a young cat, but he never tried to impose...only help.
It's been six moons since he started as an apprentice, but it feels like it's going so fast. He's so glad, though, that he's doing what he does. When every other apprentice has to leave their mentor, he gets to stay with his. To him, it's pretty much near perfect.
