It really was a lovely thing. Even so, the young tom was still careful to watch for any presence but his own. Tail just barely twitching, he was perched atop one of the piles of wood. It was nice to be able to get out of camp, into the quiet of the territory. Here, it was much less likely that any of his clanmates would run into him wherever he went. Why he'd come here, he wasn't sure. Maybe because, even after visiting it countless times, it was still slightly foreign to him? Mostly, though, it was a good place to grab a piece of prey if you were looking for it...and since nothing really needed to be stocked, and no one was really ill or injured (as far as he knew. Everything had been fine when he'd left.), that's what he'd come out here for.
If he saw anything on the way, though, he was going to gather it and take it back. There was nothing wrong with being overstocked while everything was growing well. The only thing that wasn't working well with him, today, was the heat. For any cat is was particularly sweltering, but his coat was as dark as the bird he was named for and it was beating down on him especially hard. Already uncomfortable despite the short amount of time he'd been out... he splayed himself atop the pile. That worked for maybe a minute or two, but that was being generous. Leaving the little pile of plants and whatever else he'd collected in plain view, he slipped into what shade the old structure could provide. In the shadows, still outside of the thing, he found comfort and invisibility. If anyone did come past here, they wouldn't notice the lithe black tom until the last minute, especially since his lamp-like yellow eyes had just now closed.
Even though he was pretty sure a mouse had just scampered past his paws, he didn't move a muscle. It was just too hot, not that he was being lazy..but he needed a break. Only a short one, and he wasn't going to drift off. No, it was much too warm for that, passing into needless heat. Every so often, a faint breeze blew through the space he was located in, offering brief pieces of relief when the weather seemed to have none. Eventually, he opened his eyes, but stayed splayed out, head resting against one outstretched foreleg. He couldn't see past one of the wood piles from the position, and could only hope that no one felt like hunting, right in this spot, in this weather.
Though it was unlikely anyone would come here, let alone find him. He'd walked off on his own, telling himself he'd keep close to camp..and he was. Kind of. He could get there fast if he ran..but he doubted he'd be in any trouble for this. Though..maybe. He quickly sat up, hearing a rustling somewhere off around him, ready to sprint back to camp at a moment's notice..
Or just to sprint off in the other direction.
It just depended on who or what was nearby.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,345,true] | [atrb=background,http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm141/Spottedbelly/Brightflowermain.png] Sometimes a cat just had to get out of the hustle and bustle of the camp, you know? That was all that the medicine cat was doing; it was not like she was going to run off to some other rival Clan or become a loner or rogue, or anything like that. She just did not want to be stuck in a heat wave, with absolutely no breeze to blow the warmth away. Although, out in the forest, or on the hills, there was a better wind.
And that was exactly what Brightflower was doing at that moment.
Bushy tail dragging alongside the ground, longer fur off the side of her cheeks starting to seem annoying. Her pelt was somewhat damp with perspiration, eyes duller than normal. (Not that her eyes were ever dull and boring, they almost always seemed light and bright.) The sun seemed to be beating down onto her, and she almost resorted to just collapsing onto the ground. Yet no, she kept moving around.
In circles, at that. How embarrassing.
Narrowing her eyes, hazel eyes reflecting light from the solar rays, she kept herself close to the ground, barely moving every moment or so. Absent-minded, and without even knowing it herself, her tail flickered against a nearby bush, as well as her stepping on a branch, snapping it into two. Thank StarClan she was no warrior, for she would just be awful at hunting, obviously. Though, it seemed that she did catch attention from someone. Or something.
"Who's there?" She called out, though her voice never seemed to go above a whisper. Her position changed, so that her posture was straight up, and she was on all four paws. A small twitch of her whiskers, and she moved forward a few more pawsteps, eyes widening as she noticed pure black fur in the shape of an apprentice.
Well, technically, it was her apprentice. Crowpaw. What a coincidence this happened to be... considering she was not even looking for the tomcat, anyways. She was just trying to get out of the heat, and by her calculations, it seemed that he was trying to do the same.
"Crowpaw..?" Brightflower's thoughts allowed the one name to slip past her tongue, though her expression was not, in any way, disappointed, at all. In fact, it was more of a humorous aura that she had at the moment. It seemed that both the medicine cat and her apprentice had the same thoughts of staying cool, this greenleaf day.

He had rocketed up into that sitting position fast enough to make his head spin, so he sat there, only half-alert..until he felt a bit less..woozy. Still not entirely there, a familiar and altogether comforting voice cut through his temporary delirium like claws to leaves..or moss. He shuddered to think of the other things they could possible cut through, as he waited.
Who's there?
Still waiting, he didn't quite move from the shadows yet. She would make her way to him eventually, he knew. no need to rush the process, and she had all the right to be cautious..this time. For all she knew, he could have been some vicious rogue, but she would have no need to be nervous otherwise. He blinked, slowly, two or three times, keeping still otherwise as his mentor eventually slipped into the small clearing surrounding their location. Her eyes grew wide enough that it almost seemed funny, and he did chuckle and slip out from the shadows, his name slipping out of her.
Crowpaw..?
The one and only,he mewed, finally in clear view. Looks like you caught me out here..lazing about. His response was full of a matching humor, something not everyone got to see. Brightflower was really the only cat lucky enough to glimpse what lay outside of his introverted shell, and her presence made him feel more at ease out here than he'd been previously. Which meant he was fairly relaxed, also a rare sight. The long-bodied apprentice padded a few steps forward, head tilted ever so slightly to the side, yellow eyes bright against the darkness of his pelt. He sat, happy with his new position, tail curling around his paws.
So what brings you out here, Brightflower? Enjoying the...err, nice weather?
Okay, so he wasn't perfect with interaction...seeing as he was talking about the weather already...but he was trying, really..and he had gotten better after six moons or so. Things got a bit rusty at times..but it was still something. He chuckled, dragging a paw across the ground. Why did silences always have to be awkward?
