Oh good StarClan... my head!
In that moment, Sprucepaw was glad that his mother couldn't read minds, because she would have swatted him atop the head for taking StarClan's name in vain, most likely. And that wouldn't have done his headache any favors, no sirree. Hollywhisker was currently running her tongue over his head, much to the apprentice's disgust and annoyance, and he yowled softly and attempted to shrug her off. At the mouth of the den, Mothpaw watched in amusement, whilst Dustpaw was off in the forest with his mentor. To himself, Sprucepaw wondered when Littlewhisker would take him out for a training session. Thinking of learning all those battle techniques made the apprentice bristle in anticipation and excitement, something his oblivious and ditzy mother didn't notice, but his older sister did. She shot him a grin, and over his mother's tongue rasping against his fur, he heard her call over to him.
"You thinking about something, Sprucey?"
Hating the nickname that his taunting sister gave him, he scowled in her direction and wrinkled her nose at her, before shooting a response her way. "Yes I am actually, Mothy." He paused, only to revel in the fact that his kin hated the nickname he gave her as much as the brown tabby and white apprentice hated the one his sister gave him only moments before. How he enjoyed winding her up. "I'm just wondering when Littlewhisker is going to take me out into the woods for a training session." Mothpaw couldn't reply to that, because Hollywhisker had stopped grooming her son and quickly cut in before her daughter could say anything at all. "Why do you want to grow up so quickly, Sprucepaw? Enjoy your apprenticehood whilst you can, being a warrior brings with it a lot of responsibility." "Responsibility you think he can't handle, mother? What with his immaturity and all.." Mothpaw cut in, a smirk on her pale brown muzzle, and at that moment the tom wished his brother was here, so they could tagteam and tackle her to the ground.
"It's funny, Mothy, cause I didn't hear anybody ask for your input." He huffed, and before Mothpaw could retort with a comeback, he addressed his mother, with more respect than he addressed his sister with, because if he didn't speak to Hollywhisker in a polite tone, she would tell Frostfang about it, and Sprucepaw didn't fancy getting on the wrong size of his giant of a father, who could probably squish him with one paw. Not that he would, though, not without severe provoking anyway. The young tom may be cheeky, but he knew his boundaries. "But mother, warriors get so much respect! And they get to do whatever they like!" Hollywhisker chuckled and shook her head at the naivety of her child, ushering him out of the den and into the camp clearing as she spoke. "Sprucepaw, you don't seriously believe that warriors get to do whatever they like, do you? Now go and play, honey." She smiled and turned herself away from him to enter the den. Mothpaw moved to sit with her as the yellow eyed she-cat planted her rump on the ground and pulled her daughter towards her with a paw, beginning to rasp her tongue over her skull, like she had to her son just moments before.
Sprucepaw merely chuckled at the irony, before leaving his unamused sister to the mollycoddling of their doting mother, padding off to sit by the apprentice den, wondering how long it would be before Dustpaw returned from training so he could spar with him, as Mothpaw was obviously too busy to play... He chuckled under his breath, looking up at the sky and noting that his brother probably wouldn't be back for a while yet. So if that was the case, he would have to find someone else to talk to, or maybe even spar with.

Lilyspot rested her head on her paws, watching lazily as the day droned on. Another day on its way to being gone, and she had nothing to show for it. She had hunted, perhaps. Caught a squirrel or two. She was particularly proud of how quickly she had caught the second squirrel, though since she had hunted alone, there had been no one to admire her hunting skills. Admittedly, the young warrior sometimes missed her days as an apprentice, always having a warrior there to teach her what to do and make sure she didn't steer too far from sanity.
Sanity. Could she say she possessed such a thing? At times, she liked to think so. At times she liked to hope that she was fairly sane. Then again, maybe she was different. Maybe she was too nice and too caught up in wishing she was a kit again and too caught up in wondering when her true love would roll around... Waiting and wishing and laughing. That was her life. She couldn't say she didn't enjoy it. She only wished she had more friends. Her mother hardly counted; perhaps the old girl was losing her peace of mind. Perhaps it was time for Lunarmist to retire to elderhood, even if Lilyspot was still young.
In all her thoughts, the she-cat had become surprisingly still. She blinked lazily as a butterfly landed on her nose. She smiled wide, crossing her eyes to look at the little yellow creature.
"Hello there," She breathed, hardly moving her nose, in hopes as to not startle it. To her dismay, however, the butterfly only lingered on her nose for a moment, quickly fluttering away. Getting to her paws instantly, Lilyspot batted at it as it flew through the air, laughing gleefully as the butterfly flew away from her paw's reach. She watched sadly as it flew off into the air and behind a tree, disappearing from her view.
Cocking her head slightly, she turned, about to return to the restful thinking position she had previously been laying in. Her eyes fell, however, on the apprentice, Sprucepaw, coming out of the den nearby.
"Good morning," She meowed, a friendly smile placed on her delicate face, in hopes to talk to the apprentice. Surely he wouldn't mind the company? "How are ya?"

Solitude wasn't all that bad.
Not if it didn't last so long that you found yourself really, really lonely, that is. Although it was hard to find yourself feeling lonely in the middle of camp, because there was always someone else nearby, busying themselves with one thing or another, but even so they were still there, and their presence could be a comfort because then you knew that you weren't on your own. Not that Sprucepaw was afraid of being on his own or anything, he wasn't a baby. The apprentice slouched where he sat, flopping to the ground and letting out a very dejected sigh. He found himself craving conversation, a game, anything. Hell, he wouldn't care if he was dragged off into the elder's den to endure 'story time', as long as he didn't have to sit through another session of his mother's neurotic grooming, something that his sister was now being subjected to. Oh well, she'd live. The brown and white tom sulked only for a few seconds longer, as with a twitch of an ear, he heard someone approach. He looked up to see a young cream tabby she-cat with bright blue eyes peering over at him, and his ears twitched to catch her exuberant greeting.
"Good morning." Sprucepaw perked up immediately, sitting bold upright with a big grin on his face. Finally, this was his chance to have a conversation with someone! He was bored witless, so maybe the pretty she-cat - who he recognized now as a newly appointed warrior by the name of Lilyspot - could bring a bit of excitement to his day. "Good morning, Lilyspot!" He flashed a charming grin at her, and as she approached, he smiled invitingly at her and curled his striped brown tail around his paws. "How are ya?" "I'm pretty bored, actually, so I'm glad there's someone around who isn't too busy with warrior duties, or doing a training session with their mentor, to talk to me. What about you?" As nice as small talk was, hopefully once the pleasantries were out of the way, they could go and do something. Maybe they could hunt together, seeing as Sprucepaw wanted to chase something and he was getting pretty hungry. Eyeing Lilyspot curiously, he wondered if she was hungry too. It was getting around that time of day when it would start to get dark soon, so unless she had eaten in the morning, she should theoretically be hungry too, and more inclined to go hunting with him.
If not, they could always spar. After all, the brown and white apprentice would be able to learn a thing or two from his opponent, and a warriors insight to the art of battle - no matter how young she was - would be helpful indeed.

[/i] Lilyspot grinned at his response, her mind searching for an answer. He was glad she was talking to him? That made her happy. She always liked to make another cat glad, in any way she could. She wondered for a moment how often he did get a warrior to talk to. Probably not often, other than his mentor; most warriors were too busy being warriors, telling apprentices what to do and hunting and patrolling and doing other warrior stuff. She preferred to be both a warrior and a kit at the same time. It was easier than it looked! "Aw, do you get lonely? It must be kind of boring sometimes, not being able to leave camp without supervision. I remembered I hated that!" She commented. Having your family as company all the time could only be fun to an extent, and she had always despised staying in one place for very long. She had always begged her mentor to take her elsewhere. And although she didn't have much family, she knew her mother sometimes got on her nerves. "I'm pretty bored too, I was just hanging around camp, which is something I don't usually do," She explained, reminding herself how little she liked to be in camp. Wait, why was she still here? Because she had hunted earlier, and going out into territory without someone by your side got boring after a while. Maybe Sprucepaw would want to do something with her outside of camp. Though she had gone hunting once already, she wouldn't mind doing so again. Everything was more fun when you had someone to talk to. Besides, she hadn't eaten any of what she had caught. She had only set it in the freshkill pile, since she hadn't been hungry. And now she was hungry again, despite herself. Awaiting his response, she wracked her mind for another question, debating if she should invite him hunting. Getting to know a Clanmate more wouldn't hurt, for sure, and he seemed like a kind enough apprentice. Words, 368 Tagged, Sprucepaw Notes, What is this muse you speak of?
