Eaglestar had waited around the camp until Doveflight issued all the patrols, but then he found himself a tad anxious over doing nothing. Nothing. He absolutely hated not having anything to do at any given time. It was well into the season of green-leaf, and they had been blessed by StarClan with an abundance of prey this year. Quickly, the tabby-and-white tom found himself padding, silently, through the tall wheat that blanketed his territory. It seemed as if he'd left camp and just started walking in a straight line with no apparent destination. The ray of sunlight pierced through the wheat, and the reason for his Clan's name was quickly becoming apparent to anyone that didn't know. The radiant golden shine would've likely blinded any animal that wasn't used to the sight. And what a beautiful sight it is... Eaglestar stopped for a moment and peered around in full alertness, his tail tip twitching ever so lightly.
There was a sound out there, somewhere. A faint rustling noise, and a small hiss escaped the tom's maw. He didn't like that. He knew that it couldn't possibly be one of his warriors; they wouldn't be so careless as to make noises while moving through this grass. Eaglestar's left ear swiveled as he caught another, different sound. It was the sound of a bird foraging in the dirt. Quickly, almost as if forgetting about the first sound, Eaglestar's body flattened itself to the ground, slowly crawling towards the sound of prey. And hoping that the bird wouldn't fly away before he got there. As the wheat grew shorter, the silhouette of his target came into view. It was a crow! And a large one, at that. This would feed at least two cats today, possibly more. His ears flattened to his skull as he grew closer to the unsuspecting crow, readying himself for the pounce. This would be a slightly dangerous catch, since the crow was right next to the Old Wood Fence, which stood neck and neck with the Thunderpath.
Ready, set...
Eaglestar jumped, but not directly at the crow. Every GoldenClan warrior knew to attack a bird in the direction they know it will fly away in. So the tom jumped off to the left of his target, and sure enough, the crow was soon captured within his claws. And after a bit of fighting, Eaglestar bit clean through the neck of his victim, killing it instantly. He carried the fresh-kill a little ways down the fence line, before stopping to bury it. But no sooner had he finished burying it, he heard that same... Distinct rustling of the wheat. His ears swiveled all around, trying to pick up the source. There was no wind today, so he knew that his territory wasn't just swaying.
It seemed as though this rustling noise was only getting louder, and it was. Soon, a pair of massive eyes appeared behind Eaglestar, who slowly looked. It was a coyote. On his territory, and he was all alone out there. He arched himself and hissed loudly. He didn't know if his warriors would be able to hear him call for back up. Shortly, a strong... ferocious yowl escaped the leader's body, as the coyote pinned him to the ground. Eaglestar flailed, kicking his back legs into the coyote's chest and deeply scratching it. He couldn't run, and it was more than just the fact that he was trapped within this coyote's grasp. No, he didn't want to lead the predator straight to his camp. As soon as the coyote had faltered in his grip, Eaglestar bounded upwards and grabbed it around its neck with both of his arms, claws digging into its neck as he bit into the right eye of the enemy. And he continued to yowl as he did so, knowing that he may not be able to fend the creature off on his own.

It was time she hunted by herself, and did things on her own without any distraction from the clan. She always worried about the others, and when she went on the patrols with them it turned out they got most of the prey while she turned up empty mouthed. It saddened her to think about how she was letting the clan down. At the same time she couldn't blame a few rounds on her hunting skills. Sometimes cats didn't catch anything, and it was the thought that counted normally.
Her golden eyes glowed as she slowly padded forward, trying not to disturb the prey, when she spotted her leader close to the Thunderpath. She watched for a second before she realized the trouble he was really in. As quickly as she could she dashed towards him yowling to alert any cats nearby there was trouble and she may not be able to help him alone. Honestly by now fear was running through her body, but it was not of the creature attacking her, it was of losing her leader.
Doveflight leaped up in the air, aiming to land on the creatures back. Her claws were unsheathed, and luckily she landed right on target. Her object was to distract the creature, and keep it from attacking Eaglestar and injuring him any worse than he was. Digging her claws in hard she heard the creature howl in pain. It was quite painful to her ears, since she had sensitive hearing as is.
She took a quick glance at Eaglestar and yowled, "I'll keep it distracted. Find help! Quickly!" She knew he may not listen to her, but she didn't want him to be injured and rather risk her life than his. It just was how she worked. So she kept her claws dug into the creatures pelt as it shook trying to throw her off.

Adderfang was hot, sticky, and downright uncomfortable. He hated the heat so much, even though the day wasn't all too bad, the sun shining from a rich cerulean sky, turning the wheat to a blazing and blinding gold. It was actually a rather nice for hunting; that's why he was out in the first place, traipsing the territory on his own for prey that could feed GoldenClan. But, with each step he took, he realized how much of a mousebrain he'd been. He was stupid for just braving into the wheat fields, totally inconsiderate of how the plain was almost devoid of trees or shade. While the tall yellow stalks provided some comfort, he found himself still terribly hot. The sun's rays were too much for the crop, he knew.
As the light tabby tom continued on his way, he remembered how he really had no destination in mind. His path was angled toward the Old Wood Fence, but he didn't know what he could possibly hope to get there. But what he did know was that there'd be nothing in the wheat where he was.
He wasn't that close to the picket fence that ran down the length of their territory. He could picture it in his head, the wood pieces jutting out of the earth to provide a barrier between the field and the thunderpath. Adderfang had only set out from camp not too long ago. He still had the warriors' den's scent on his fur. He recalled that clearly, replaying his early morning rituals and the faces he saw. All of those not including his brother, Eaglestar. The revelation made him pause, paw lifted and stilled before it could be pressed back down to the ground. He frowned. Eaglestar probably just left to go do something. But that's still weird that he hadn't seen him. Had he been paying attention? Sometimes Adderfang didn't look, knowing his brother was a busy cat what with GoldenClan on his shoulders.
Shrugging it off, he allowed his mind to think about something else. "I saw Doveflight," he mused, picking his way still toward the Old Wood Fence. "She went to hunt on her own. Huh, I wonder if the patrols are still out. Probably not."
Adderfang always felt a little weird traveling across the territory by himself. He always liked to have someone with him, but without Eaglestar around.... The warrior shook his head, clearing his thoughts. You don't need him around you all the time! he thought, tail twitching. "I make it sound like I don't have any friends." He sighed. He had plenty of friends. It's just that a lot of them were probably out and about themselves. And hey, GoldenClan wasn't huge; maybe he'd stumble across someone and they could team up. He just hoped they wouldn't smell like he does. The sweat was starting to make him vile.
As he neared his destination, a loud ruckus met his ears. Perplexed, he stopped short where the wheat began to thin out to make way for the thunderpath. Straining his senses, Adderfang could hear the yowls of cats and some other creature, and the more he listened, the more canine it sounded. "That is not a coyote," he deadpanned, expression growing terribly serious. Lifting his nose to the wind, he inhaled. "No, not a stupid dog! Agh, I better—"
Thrashing and shaking wheat alerted him up ahead, and he heard the distinct cry of Doveflight. She was urging someone to get help and save himself, something that made Adderfang's heart lurch. Oh, StarClan, if it's Eaglestar. His thoughts whirled. Deciding that it was better late than never to break through the wheat into the fray, he charged forward, claws unsheathed and a nasty snarl slapped on his muzzle.
"Doveflight!" he cried, shocked by the scene before him.
The she-cat was on the coyote's back, the canine growling and barking like mad. Its eyes were practically beads with white rims, and his deputy's claws were deep into its fur. "Doveflight, I'll help you!"
But he'd turned his head toward the fence, and he saw Eaglestar. His brother must have been in really serious trouble. And, judging by the lack of other cats, he must have been about to be crowfood before Doveflight came in to save the day.
Adderfang made a mental note to thank the deputy later. Even though he was just a warrior, and the she-cat was simply doing her duty, her bravery was just unmatched. And it was Adderfang's brother, for crying out loud. It looked like the GoldenClan leader had delivered a few blows to the coyote, his claws unsheathed and the coyote looking battered in other places other than his back. Skirting around the fight with Doveflight and the coyote, Adderfang got himself closer to his brother to help him double team if the same thought ever occurred to him.
"Way to go, Eaglestar. Just way to go. The coyotes love you, you should have known," he meowed, finding it appropriate to joke around a bit before launching himself at the beast.
Swiping at its face with tapered, long claws, his strikes came in rapid beats, the muscles in his legs contracted and working hard. He swerved around to avoid an ugly bite from the coyote, clawing at its shoulder and upper foreleg. He was pleased to see clumps of fur as large as fat kits jump into the air from his punches, but the writhing coyote bumped him hard and sent him back a little bit. The smell of the thing hit his nose, and he had to suppress the need to gag. If he'd been worried about him or a clanmate smelling bad, he now had a whole new perspective!

He silently prayed to StarClan that another cat would show up to help him, and just as the thought occurred to him, thud! He was thrown hard into the ground with a yowl. As soon as the tom could even begin to comprehend what had happened, he stood up slowly, trembling as the adrenalin pumped through his veins. His amber orbs looked back to the coyote, who now seemed to be struggling against something else. As the coyote bounced around, yelping, he could make out the familiar shape of Doveflight, his faithful deputy, and a spark of relief lit up in his mind.
Through anything, Eaglestar knew that he could trust and rely on the she-cat. "Doveflight!" he hissed loudly, his eyes scanning the scene quickly for him to decide his next attack plan. "I'll keep it distracted. Find help! Quickly!" he then heard her yowl, and the tom didn't need any time to think about his response. "I'm not leaving you," his eyes slitted as he spoke as calmly as possible but still loud enough for her to hear. And then another ruckus arose in the air; a cat burst into his line of sight, and to more of his relief it was his brother. "Adderfang," he wailed, blood coursing from an open gash in his leg, through his fur.
As his brother approached him, Eaglestar's tail habitually floated over to him and brushed against his flank. He was lucky to have a brother as loyal as Adderfang; not every cat could say that, he knew. "Way to go, Eaglestar. Just way to go. The coyotes love you, you should have known." He purred at the sarcasm, but quickly realized that this was no time for playing around. The fur on the back of his neck bristled. "We have to make sure this coyote leaves the territory, brother," he strongly meowed, shifting his amber orbs from Adderfang and back to the coyote and Doveflight.
At nearly the same time as Adderfang, but instead of attacking its face, Eaglestar dove beneath the coyote and grabbed its midsection with long, sharp claws, before kicking out at its chest rapidly with strong force. The blood of the coyote was actually beginning to splatter everywhere, nearly staining the brilliant white of Eaglestar's pelt. And with a final, repeated yelp, the coyote ran with the leader immediately bolting after it to make sure it left for good. The coyote ran across the thunderpath and into the forest, and Eaglestar stopped with pricked ears. It looked like it would be HillClan's problem now, either that or it would simply die from the wounds it had just sustained.
"Excellent job, you two. Are you both okay?" he meowed as he limped back towards his comrades. His body still shook slightly due to adrenalin, as he began to lick his own wounds. "I don't know what would have happened had you not shown up. Thank you," the tom broke from his grooming, and purred.
